THURSDAY: HS Boy Spartans will host the Flinthills Job Corp of Manhattan at 6:00pm at Dexter; Varsity Only. The HS Basketball games for Friday against Altoona-Midway are cancelled.
TONIGHT: MS Spartan Basketball will host the Flinthills Mustangs at Dexter. Games will start at 3:00pm with C Girls playing 2 Quarters followed by C Boys; 2 Quarters. B Girls will start Approximately at 4:00pm followed by B Boys, A Girls, and A Boys. GOOD LUCK!! GO SPARTANS!!

THURSDAY, Nov. 1: 💗The Freshman class sponsored a Powderpuff Football game🏈! There was a good turn out of students and spectators!! Also, a great halftime performance!! Overall, the girls seemed to have a fun playing with minimal penalties!! GREAT JOB TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS!!🏈💗
Dexter 7th grader, Braden Mugler competed in the inaugural Science of Agriculture challenge on the Kstate Campus and won first place along with his two team members from Burden!
The 4th graders have been learning about igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. The past couple of weeks students have brought in rocks they have found. Today they got to investigate and classify rocks based on what they have learned!
The third grade has enjoyed having all of our Cowley County Extension agents bring lessons into our classroom over the past month. We have studied the life cycles of plants and animals, learned about food coming from plants and animals, and prepared a special treat called "egg in a bread basket." We have been anxiously awaiting the hatching of the eggs that were incubated in our classroom, and the chicks finally arrived! It was a great experience!
This year, 5th graders were given the opportunity to enter a poster contest put on by the Caney Valley Electric Cooperative Association. Students were to submit a poster that showed examples of electrical safety. This was a voluntary activity and 5 students in our class participated! Logan Becker, Jax Deiter, Austin Potter, Wade Martin and Wyatt Martin all submitted posters. Wyatt Martin was selected as the winner of the contest and received a $25 check. All of the posters should appear in the Kansas Country Living magazine as space allows! In addition our class was awarded a $50 check to use for the 5th grade class. We are looking forward to seeing their posters in print! Great job, 5th graders!!

6th grade students have worked for the last month on constructing a Spider Meccanoid that walks, chases you, and even squirts venom (water) on its prey. They will program it to respond to voice commands in the upcoming weeks.
LAST WEEK: After a busy week, the 6th grade class ended with a thrilling Thursday by creating Bristlebots! First, students designed their robots with tiny motors, batteries, toothbrushes and pipe cleaners. They had to troubleshoot ways to make them work, go faster and slower. Finally, they used the vibrating creatures to paint Halloween Robot Abstract Art pieces to display in the halls. "Nailed it!"
REMINDER FOR MONDAY: Jostens will return for the graduation and Sophomore ring orders at 10:30 am in the commons. Don’t forget to bring your order form and down payment. For class rings, you can go online to Jostens.com, design your ring, print your order form and bring it to school on order day.

YESTERDAY: There was an All-League meeting, we had two Lady Spartans make the list; Reagan Warburton, Second-Team and Riley Ferguson, Honorable Mention. Great Job and to all our Lady Spartans this season!!
